  • 1/25 Question of the Day

For all you office bound kayak fishermen who don't seem to be doing any work at the office and are spending your time writing about brown trout sashmi will post a question of the day for the next few days.

When all else fails, and you don't know what fish are around, what is your go to lure?
(Live bait and soft plastics will be a question for another day)

    Mine is a blue/silver kastmaster 1/2 oz.

Rattletrap 1/2 blue back chrome. This fall the go to was a suspending bomber.

I'm more of soft plastic guy though... Go to is a fluke, or some variation.
          Used to fish more.

Hmmm...when I'm saltwater fishing, I'm usually in a specific place targeting a specific species. When I'm covering ground, I'll usually troll a 4" chartreuse sassy shad on a 1/2 to 3/4oz head or a #13 or #15 Tony spoon behind a 1.5oz inline weight.

When I'm freshwater fishing in the winter, I'm in a more generic search mode, so I'll throw a 1/8 oz or 1/4oz jig head with a 2-4 inch chartreuse grub on it. It'll catch pickerel, white perch, yellow perch, crappie, and largemouth bass.

When striper fishing, troll a Rapala X-Rap, size depends, in color Glass Ghost.

1/4 oz jig head and a 3" or 4" White Grub.

I think you can catch anything on this combo fresh or salt.
