Just a heads up, I was at Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday and ended up getting a Stradic ci4 2500 for $79.99. It was their demo. The reels were already on sale for 179.99 and the salesman told me "I think that one right there is 50% off of that marked price" Sure enough it was more. It might be worth stopping in your local Dick's Sporting Goods to see if their demo/display is the last one they have left. Nothing like getting a $200 reel for $80.

I visited the Dicks in Crofton/Gambrills this evening. I mainly needed a few bags of Gulp but was intrigued by the report of heavily discounted Stradics. I use the standard Stradics on all my spinning rods, but have never tried the Ci4 version. I made two scans of the reel aisle and saw a regular Stradic on display but no Ci4 models. I was about to leave when I leaned over to inspect the contents of a display case. Near the bottom of the dimly lit case, I could see two Stradic Ci4 2500 reels. I asked the clerk to open the case and check the price. Even he was surprised when the reel showed up for $89.98. I took a more careful look in the display case and found a third one there. I don't need any reels at the moment. However, I could not pass up an opportunity to restock my fishing gear inventory in the garage. I bought all three.
I found out that Gulps and several other brands of soft plastics in the bag are being sold at "buy one, get the second for half off". So even though I had planned to buy 3 o r 4 bags of Gulp, I splurged and bought 10 bags. That should last me the rest of the year.John Veil

You are the second person who inquired about buying one from me. I am not planning on selling any of them. I go through several Stradics in a year, selling off my older ones and putting new ones into service. The new ones I bought last night will be my inventory for the next year. I try to find them on sale and stockpile a few.
You can try calling around to different Dicks stores in the region to see if they have any left. Apparently at least two of the Dicks stores in our area had some on hand.John Veil

I went to the Dick's in Westminster today, they don't have any of the ci4 models but they do have a Stradic FJ 2500 for $180 and a Stradic FJ 5000 for $90. The clerk couldn't tell me why the 5000 was half the price of the 2500. Also, there were no Shimano reels out, I had to specifically ask about the Stradic and he went in the back and found these 2. I may try again tomorrow since I work nearby, maybe there were ci4 models back there?? I didn't get the impression that the clerk cared about selling me anything, he was more interested in making me go away.

It sounds like Dicks is reducing the number of models and sizes of reels it sells. Those models that are not supported by the main company anymore are marked at 50% off. I suspect that Dicks sold relatively few Stradic 5000 reels so they may have decided not to sell them anymore.

I have 2 of Ci4F 1000s, and they are great. Extremely light, smooth powerful drag. I use one of them as my LTJ reel and have caught rockfish up to 27" on it. I just replaced the handle with a bigger one. Plenty of drag at 15Lbs.
The new models are a slightly lighter, but have half as much drag, which sucks.
Good buys on those older Ci4! Enjoy them.
