  • September Meet & Greet 2013

Ok all, I am closing the poll for the the September Meet & Greet. In a 6 to 4 vote, Option A won out. The Meet and Greet will be at September 7th in Crisfield, MD. This is also the same weekend as the CCA Red and Speck Catch and Release Tournament. It runs the 7th and 8th. Here is the website again. http://www.ccamd.org/?p=1814. There is a kayak division, if anyone is interested. I know a few snaggedline members plan to participate, myself included.

I plan to call a little cafe in Crisfield and letting them know about how many we expect for breakfast. They open super early, so this should work good. However, because this is a tournament, I do not plan on scheduling a lunch in the middle of the day. I think tourney participants have to be in line by 3:00, so an early dinner/HH will be in order. Ill post more details about that as well soon.

As it gets closer I will post several launches in the area. After breakfast, people will likely fish several different areas (there are MANY options around the area), so I will do my best to find a launch that covers these.

If you plan on attending please let me know.

I'll be semi attending and not doing the tournament. Getting there late Saturday, hopefully by 2-3 and hope to fish Janes Island that evening. This is the last day of my vacation in OBX and I will be leaving there and heading to Janes Island to camp the night and do some fishing. Hope to maybe hook up with anybody that will be fishing Saturday evening there. Will be staying the night and fishing Sunday also. Will be me and the wife in a white Nissan Frontier with two yellow kayaks.

Awesome, Don. You are fully attending then. I hope others know that it is not necessary to fish the tourney. It's simply an option. I may be out in the evening and will be around Sunday also. The plan is that we all have a HH/dinner at a local restuarant (info coming when I get a more updated count) after the weigh in/fishing; which is at 3:00.

I may try to get out of OBX a little earlier shoot for around noon for arrival. Yes I was aware that the tourney was not necessary but just hope I can catch up with some people from the group with my late start. Have been dying to get down that way to fish and appreciate your efforts in putting it together. Works out well for me as it will split my drive back just about in half and I can get at least a couple of outings of fishing.

OK folks, the Meet and Greet portion (i.e.-food, cold beers, fish stories) will be held at Capt. Tylers Crab House in Crisfield. This is where the weigh-in for the tournament will be; beginning at 3:00PM, so it makes sense. There will also be food and drink specials available. $25 AYCE crabs. Can't beat that. I will try to reserve a table for the MKF members who sign up on this thread.

I still need to get the restaurant name for breakfast, but I'll post it and a time soon. It's not online, so I'll get in next time I fish down there.

We are sitting at 8 people currently. On the tounament thread, it looks like more are attending, but haven't signed up.

Anyone else coming who hasn't posted?

So what do you need for this? Is there a place to camp out or do you need a room? I am kicking this around but need to keep the cost down. I am looking at around $200 in gas cost alone for this trip coming up from Patuxent River.

                          Mini-X,
Janes Island State Park has camp sites available for around $25. There are also several hotels in the Crisfield, Princess Anne, and Salisbury, MD area. The cheapest of those options would be the camp site at Janes Island State Park. Although I live close by in Salisbury, I will likely stay there as well.

Thanks for organizing the M&G! I will be there Friday after work and I will pick up rulers for guys that are in the tournament that cannot make the Captain's meeting. I am bringing my Fiance with me and we are staying at Tylers. I haven't had a chance to look into where to launch/fish down there but she always seems to find specs so I will probably just drop her in the water and follow!

I hope more guys sign up and come down! The event is for a great cause and one that we can all get behind - saving the Specs and Redfish from being over-harvested by recreational and commercial fishermen!
                            Used to fish more.

Been a little quiet here. Is anybody else camping at Janes Island? I plan on getting there mid morning on Saturday and am not doing the tournament. Will be in a white Nissan Frontier with two yellow yaks. Like to meet some fellow board members stop over and say hi. Will be fishing Sunday also if anybody is still around.
