  • Blue Cats in the Chesapeake Bay?

I just got back from Sandy Point State Park and met a shore fisherman that told me that he caught last night 5 large catfish. He said they were blue catfish. I did not see them myself, so I cannot swear that he identified the catfish correctly. He was using spots for bait and he came up with catfish instead! Does anyone know if large Blue Catfish cruise our Bay as high up as Sandy Point State Park? I am just curious.....

I guess all the rain we've been having has the bay bridge area staying pretty fresh. Catfish are not uncommon at the bay bridge and blues can tolerate more salinity than our other cats and I regularly catch them around the 301 bridge on the Potomac. If you want blues check that place out!
    Used to fish more.

They've been caught in eastern shore rivers, susquehanna, patapsco, and probably many others. I wouldnt doubt they could be around spsp. Next people will be catching s/h at spsp.
