  • Friday morning SPSP.

I have cabin fever I have bin dry for 6 weeks working 7 days a week with a lot of 12 hour days so I'm burning some VC days. It looks like high tide is about 6 am so I'm going to launch between 5:30 and 6:00. Come on down.

I fished there this morning from my center console. I went bait hunting about 1/2 mile out from the beach in 15-17 ft depth and caught a dozen spot plus two perch in less than an hour on Fishbites. I do have the lat/long coordinates, but to eyeball it, I was far enough out the bridge so that I was even with the start of the criss-cross girders underneath the deck. I looked back at the beach and was roughly even with the blue water tower. That will help you triangulate if you want to find the location. I saw Goody. He had some trouble finding spot in his usual location, so I gave him several of mine.

Although I was successful at the bait-catching phase, I really stunk up the joint in the rockfish-catching phase. I lost several sets of terminal tackle and caught no rockfish. I gave Goody five spot, which he seemed to be putting to good use. The wind and current had us moving pretty fast today. Goody could hold position better than me by using his fins.

As a side note, I ran most of the way across the bay to the eastern side. The waves were considerably higher there -- at least 3 footers. It was not a fun environment for a 16-ft boat, so I came back across the western side.
