Hacking

Just got a notification email that someone attempted to log into my Snagged Line account and entered an invalid password 5 times.

The note says they were locked out for 15 mins.

It also stated that their IP address was: 188.143.232.144

I've been logging in from work but signed in successfully so I don't think that's my IP.

Googling that IP says it's St Petersburg, Russian Federation

Don't know why anyone would want to gain access to someones snaggedline account....

If they tried to login to your account 5 times and got logged out.. aka temporarily banned...
Then they don't have your password.

And that "AT ThIS TIME" I am guessing the password database has not been breached.

But what probably happened... since you do have a rather common "name" - Excalibur -
And as this site is now on the "list" of "tagged" websites that have been "defaced"....
Some "hacker" with the name "Excalibur" has a password list file... and the person at 188.143.232.144
is trying to use it.

It's a game to these people... I wouldn't really call them "hackers" but just a pain in the ass people
who go about "tagging" websites. While more vulnerabilities could have been exposed... and I don't run
this software, I wouldn't get too worried about this..

I am sure the Admin's will advise us to any needed updates to our passwords.

Just as we like to post pictures of fish and tell about our fishing adventures... what these people do is "tag" websites
when a vulnerability has been made public to put up on their "brag" wall.

Unfortunately a weekly monitoring for updates needs to be done for software like this. It is unfortunately just what
needs to be done. I had software similar to this on one of my sites, that I took down five years ago... yet everyday,
I get scans from "hackers" looking for it because it is still on some list some where. It is just the way it is.

I've NEVER seen any "hot russian chics". They usually have more hair on their faces than most men I know. My buddy Matts wife is the exception but I"ve never seen her.... Just don't want to piss him off...
