  • Pro Staff for Native Watercraft

Many of you know that I really enjoy my Native Watercraft Manta Ray 14. I have been impressed with the features shown in their kayaks as well as their new models and the outstanding way they treated me last year when I had some crack issues in an older model. I talked with the folks at Native over the past month about finding a way to get more involved. As of today, I am the newest member of Pro Staff for Native. This is an unpaid position, but I will be helping their dealers with demos and fishing seminars. I would be happy to talk with or answer questions from any MKF members about Native products.

          John,

          Good for you.

But you might recommend to Native that they change the name of one of their boats. I don't think any fishing kayak should have the name "Ray" in it.

The Native dealer in Annapolis does not have an on-staff fishing person and does not currently promote that part of kayaking. I plan to work with them to raise the profile. Chris Dollar, whom I think is a sponsor, also sells Native kayaks in Centreville, MD. For those of you who previously visited his shop at Kent Narrows, it is now closed. He consolidated his kayak operations to a single shop in Centreville. The other dealers in the area seem to be larger outdoor stores located in malls and shopping centers.

To the extent that the local dealers and/or the manufacturer are willing, I will try to get them engaged in CBKA.

                            John, that's great!

You'll remember that this past spring, I bought a used NWC mantal 11. It's been great.
This is my first kayak, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I can say I feel very safe and stable on it.

I have enjoyed fishing on it very much.
Thinking next year, a 14 footer for me and I'll hand this one off to the wife.

One of these days I'll get down there to Jonas Green and get out with you.
