  • Where to launch to kayak to fish lower eastern shore?

I keep hearing about good fishing around the lower eastern shore islands for trout and reds and would like to try some in my kayak. Where would be the best place to launch at? I'm coming from Kent Island so closer is better but if it's worth it I don't mind going a little farther. I don't have a date in mind but it would be in the next 2-3 weeks. Thanks for any suggestions.

For the CCA tournament two weeks ago, a bunch of guys did pretty well out of Crisfield and Janes Island State Park.

Look at post #22. All of the launch points highlighted will put you within paddling distance of specks and reds. If you are referring to the islands as the middle islands (smith, holland, tangier, bloodsworth) these are difficult to reach on a yak. The closest point is Wynonna, MD but it is still approx a 3-4 mile open water paddle. It's not necessary to go there to catch specks and reds.

This year specks have been the main inhabitors of most lower eastern shore bay areas, but reds have been found in certain areas; just not a thick as last year. If you are interested in reds more than specks, I suggest you go to Ocean City; where they are plentiful right now on the flats. There is still a chance at a speck there also.
