  • Heading to Mattawoman via Slavins launch this Tuesday, Weds, Thursday

Going to be spending a few days in this nice fall weather fishing for some bass and snakehead. The joy of being retired is being able to fish during the week when crowds are diminished. If you can join us, Bassboogieman and I, hope to see you there and swap fishy stories.

I'm planning on getting down there Thursday around 6:30 - what time are you launching?
How's the fishing been so far - hook any big gefiltes? Save a few for me OK?

Fishing is a misnomer. It's been more like an exercise in casting and reeling. 1bass yesterday and 1 today. Going to put in at fort Washington tomorrow and fish Piscataway.

Somebody please tell the Potomac River it is dying and needs to revive.... From now on I think "head north" will be my mantra....

I launched from Slavin's on Wednesday. Went most of the day without a bite. Once the light started to fade in the evening, I picked up a couple of bass on poppers. No snakeheads caught.

How did Piscataway go? The one time I fished there it was slow in the evening. I went to the right from the launch into the creek.

Piscataway was not good at all. Just one yellow perch.

Yesterday I decided to fish the Susquehanna, Lapidum, after reading your Mattawoman report. I had a pretty good day, for me anyway -landed 6 nice smallmouth, missed about 4 others. The bite picked up in early afternoon, a little top water action for the first few hours. Not much water being released at the dam so it was shallow with lots of rocks showing.
Thanks for the heads up about Mattawoman and saving me the drive down there.
