    Hello,

I have lived in the DC area for over a decade but have only just recently started to fish the local waters. The bulk of my fishing experience has been in freshwater lakes during my childhood in Indiana. I also have some limited experience fishing northern pike and smallmouth bass in Michigan, New York, and Maine.

Salt water fishing is entirely new to me but I am eager to learn.

My wife and I are also new to kayaking. Right now we have an inflatable 2 person kayak and I expect us to upgrade once we figure out what we want.

I was turned on to this site by Tom (Medicyaker). He graciously helped me and my wife with fishing advice for my upcoming trip to Janes Island State Park.

Hope to make it to an outing before the cold weather sets in.

    Cheers,

    Bill

    Bill,

    Welcome to Snaggedline.

Your freshwater skills will transfer nicely to tidal waters.

I went to UofM in College Park, Class of '69. Next spring try Fletchers Boat House at Fletchers Cove on the Potomac. There's a fair bit of info about the Fletchers area on MKF if you do a search. Fletchers Cove is located on the Potomac River just after the river enters DC.

Also try the Fletchers site: http://www.fletcherscove.com/index.htm

Almost all species of fish found in MD, with a few exceptions, can be caught at Fletchers.

Thanks for the welcomes. Anybody know if it is worth fishing off shore at Jane's Island SP? Our camp site is along the water's edge and I plan to do some relaxing with a chair and cold beverage. I am not looking for trophy fish but something that could be cooked up would be nice.
