.......... and the President of the Watermans Assoc agrees .......... and the illegal catch is being counted in the quota .........

WOW !!!!!! ............. seems we have come along way ..........

Also in 2 days the Watermen registered 154k lbs of the 229k quota in 2 days ........ looks like it wouldn't have lasted past next week anyway .......

If these guys are catching this many fish in 2 days then there are a bunch in the bay ........ ya thnk!!!!

Wow. Sounds like we need to get out there and do some fishing! Some of those fish in the video are huge...

Glad the state is doing the right thing and that the issue is getting attention. Hopefully this will help change regulations on penalties... maybe make them more than just a cost of business for these guys.

There were some nice fish in those videos. The State did the right thing. However, the methods used by DNR are antiquated. Needle in the haystack is right. Searching for nets with a grapple hook should not be the only thing that is being done. There are helicopters with infrared and with FLIR. Poachers at night would be easy to see. FLIR can be used on boats and from shore. Any boat out at night this time of year would be suspect. With FLIR or night vision, DNR could see what is going on. They use FLIR to count deer, why not to catch poachers. I'm just glad they got those nets. There are alot of fish in the bay, they are staging for the spawn.

One other thing, DNR needs some bigger boats.

Ha, that is funny. It took me a second to find the right pic.

i agree with dogfish, they spend thousands to count deer at night, spend that money to catch these a** hole poachers. deer hunting is big but fishing for rock is bigger. another big step for md dnr, now its time for va dnr to step up an clamp down on there end.

It would be a good thing if DNR could use helicopters to scout for the bad guys. The problem is a previous administration thought their 2 helicopters would serve the state police better, and took them and cut their budget. I think the DNR is doing a good job with the tools in their pouch, maybe the publicity will get them some of their goodies back.

As stated earlier, Maryland is not conservation minded and is not sportsman friendly. Lets see if the trend continues. DNR is simply one department.
