  • Intro to kayak fishing-ACK

I hope I'm posting in the appropriate forum. Annapolis Canoe and Kayak is hosting a short intro to kayak fishing by John Veils this Oct 19 at 5pm. John is a Pro-staffer with Native kayaks.

Call 410 263 2303 and ask for Lee if you have any questions.

BBQ will be ready so feel free to bring anything to grill.

This will be my first time speaking about kayak fishing under my new role as Pro Staff member for Native Watercraft. I am planning to cover the following topics:

    1. Introduction to kayak styles

    2. Introduction to fishing from a kayak

    3. Minimum/critical types of gear for fishing from a kayak

    4. Other types of gear that are often added

    5. Transporting a kayak

    6. Fishing from a kayak

    7. How to dress for kayak fishing

    8. What features to look for when selecting a kayak for fishing

    9. Installing accessories

    10. Where to launch around Annapolis

While most of this is old stuff for many of our more experienced MKF members, there continue to be a lot of new folks joining each month. I hope to see many members there on Oct 19.

I will give out a free 12 Fathoms soft plastic lure to any Maryland Kayak Fishing group member who attends and comes up to me after the seminar. I have caught literally hundreds of rockfish on their Fat Sam mullets this summer.
