Been sick with a really nasty upper respiratory infection for a week so I haven't been able to go fishing...until today- last day on antibiotics so I slipped out for a few hours- brought home three keepers for the table including this really fat 22 inch speckled trout...

My two favorite fish to catch. Congrats. First time I've seen anyone catch a red on a redfish magic. I have one and all I get is stripers.

I hope you feel 100% soon.

Trying to get the fish and the measure all in the picture sitting in my lap, sitting side saddle in the yak was a trick, too...this is the best of four pictures I took of it...and the lure is a home made version of a redfish magic lure - I have caught a lot of fish on it-I usually troll two rods...one with a "redfish magic" gold spinner with a 1/4 oz jighead with a 4 inch sea assassin body and the other with a double 1/4 oz jighead setup- the top, a sea assassin body the lower, a 4 inch gulp-

Way to go Ron. Those are good looking fish. I hope to catch some of each next weekend when fishing in the Tampa area.

Great work Ron! I have never caught a red on a redfish magic... for me it is a striper/catfish magic!
                    Used to fish more.

Beautiful ! Glad you are past the antibiotics.... and feeling better.
Any sort of respiratory infection is a bummer...

Cheers to getting out in the water, I am sure you missed the taste of salt water across the bow of your boat.

Your words of wisdom have been the most helpful when I first entered the this group as a newbie

Thanks Ron. I too look forward to your reports. They are always educational and detailed. A good resource for newbies and experienced yak-ers alike.
Glad you are feeling better too.

Yeah, you're right... I am having a very good year...it took me a couple of years and some good friends (mostly Bill and Kevin) showing me to figure out kayak fishing southern Maryland waters...still learning something every trip, but I have had a great year on Speckled Trout and big slot reds...I have not entered a "paper" fish, but I have caught some...only lost a couple of the "you should have seen the one that got away" fish..almost all big fish hooked were landed...I cheated a time or two and caught fish and didn't post or make any reports- the board was busy with other reports and it was another good day, report...boring...so you have seen about 80% reported of my trips....and my favorite type of striper fishing (top water) is getting hot right about the first of the month, so I am really looking forward to switching to fishing for stripers soon...but the specks are running and I plan on targeting them until they leave. And I have two nice specks in my insulated fish bag to clean for supper tonight from Sunday...
