camp on the river bank???

Ok gents need a little help here trying to do an over night float but was wondering if its legal to camp on the Potomac river bank around the fort Washington area? or some where close to Andrews AFB that I can do an over night trip....

I've looked into this before and have never been able to find places where you can camp on the river (without trespassing anyhow). I know there are places you can camp on the Shenandoah and Rappahannock in several places though.

I thought there was semi-primitive camping allowed at Fort Frederick State park for a small fee. Fort frederick is located roughly half-way between Hagerstown and Hancock just off of I-70. Check into it.
