  • Striped Bass Conservation

I saw this online yesterday so I figured I'd share it with the group. The first picture is pretty sickening with a lot of large Stripers being taken outside of the 3 mile limit and in the Federal EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) where you're not supposed to even be fishing for them, much less keeping them. The ASMFC (Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commison) has their meeting on October 28th and there is a link at the bottom of the article showing the representatives from each state. If you care about the well being of our Striper population in the bay, and up and down the east coast, take a minute to write an email to our states representatives.

    Shane,

    Thank you.

That article and the photo should give each of us pause to think about the future of the striped bass.

I will indeed write to our Maryland representatives on the ASMFC.

Thanks Mark, I figure it only takes 5 minutes and the more voices heard the better!

        You're welcome.

I wrote to the three Maryland representatives of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission:

        William Goldsboro -- Governor's Appointee
        Thomas O'Connell -- Administrator
        Richard Colburn -- State Senator

I received a positive reply from Mr. Goldsborough today.

It's encouraging to know that others care that we care.
