  • Where to go this weekend?

With a forecast of kinda windy conditions, what are some good options for fishing other than the Susky? I'd hate to drive up there and be faced with bad conditions. I know of protected areas like Weems Creek, and Spa Creek. Anything traditionally in the creeks this time of year that make it worth the trip. I know the real way is to get out and see for myself, but I figured I'd see what options you guys may have to suggest off hand.

I called the people at Jug Bay. The lady had no idea lol. I left my name and number....she's gonna try to find out and call me back.

I don't mind the wind @ the Susky, as I've yakked in 3' waves in the bay last summer. Just trying to keep it safe...not trying to push it in the cold water.

IM planning on hitting the Occoquan river on Saturday. Its in VA though and would require a VA fishing Lic. I don't think the perch are there like the Susky but i saw report of them catching some.

The Pax at Macgruder's Landing will probably be ice-free. I launched just downstream of there last weekend. You might be able to pick up some catfish there. You don't need a permit if you're not using a trailer.

The deep hole at the mouth of Western Branch on the Pax might be worth checking out if Jackson Landing is ice-free. There's an old bridge on the way that is supposed to hold crappie as well.

MetroMan, if you want to try the Sysky for yellow perch, then I am willing to join you and follow you up there. Right now outside feels nice.

Is nothing happening at the hot ditch this time of year?

I've seen a few posts about the Hot Ditch on P&S, but its too far for me. From what I hear, it gets really crowded there with boat & yak traffic.
