This post announces the 2013-2014 Severn River Rod and Keg Club (SRRKC) pickerel derby. This is a 4-month long catch-and release tournament. The rules are the same as last year, and are outlined below. Last year we had many kayak anglers who participated. You do not need to be an SRRKC member to enter -- but if you enter, you automatically become an SRRKC member.
1. Dates: November 15 - March 14th
2. Boundaries: Severn River and its tributaries. For the purposes of this event, the Severn River is defined to include waters upstream from a line between Tolly Point (land) and Hacketts Point (land) - including Whitehall Bay and tributaries.
3. Method to enter eligible fish: Post photo showing length (20.5 inch minimum to make the leader board). Photos must be easy to read clearly to qualify. Measurement (tip of snout to rear of tail -- can be squeezed) will be credited to the 1/4 inch mark.
4. Entry Fee: $10/person. Fees must be paid in person to John Veil no later than November 15. You can pay in person at the November SRRKC meeting (Nov 6) or can mail a check (contact me by pmail for mailing instructions).
5. Prizes:
a) Single Longest Pickerel: 50% of prize the money.
b) Longest Aggregate of 3: 30% of the prize money.
c) SRRKC Fund: 20% of the prize money.
6. Any fish entered for the leaderboard must have been caught using methods allowed under the DNR regulations. Bait and/or lures may be used.
