  • Looking for walleye on the lower Susquehanna (below the dam)

Through the summer and fall, my brother have fished spots up and down the lower Susquehanna- catching smallies, stripers, and cats- but now that winter is coming, we're interested in looking for walleye.

We've put out from Lapidum and gone up (towards the dam), as well as at the dam itself a few times. Most of the time, we put in at Deer Creek and paddle up stream.

Where do people target walleye on the lower Susquehanna in the winter months?

Should we be looking above or below Lapidum? Are they found in the shallow/ rockier parts of the river between Lapidum and the dam pool?

If you have some experience with walleye in this area, what is your preferred rig? Jigging seems to be the method I've found most common, though the stretch of river we're familiar with can be pretty shallow.

    Thanks in advance.

Most are caught at the dam .......... Mostly at night ........ Of course that was my experience decades ago ........ Caught them up to December ......... Concentrated on Stripers in the deep section between Lapidum and the bridges or crappie above the dam after that

No i meant deep creek lol. In no relation to the area, i said incase it will help you find them. I know up by the dam, where the boat ramp is at if u hug the shoreline they will come up agianst the rip rap and feed in the early and late hrs. Last year on dnr report few guys said they caught them at the 95 bridge.

I targeted them about 3 times at the dam. I caught 1 in November. To date, it's the only one I've caught. They are at the dam but people don't seem to catch them in numbers. I caught it on a live baby blue gill that I caught with a cast net to use for bait. I just let it sit out there.
