  • First lure making experience

I tried replicating one of my favorite lures...the famous woody's feather spinner. I purchased the spinnerbait forms from lurepartsonline.com just to get an idea of what I was jumping into. I had to tie the feathers and flash, then install the swivel and Colorado blade. It's much harder than it looks on youtube, but it's a start. I think it might catch a desperate perch on the verge of starvation, but until then I have lots to learn. Just wanted to share a new chapter in my fishing adventures.

The lure on the bottom is the real deal...the two on top are the imposters.

    Jeremy,

    Fantastic!

Your lures look good enough to be in a commercial package with a price tag on them.

But more important they'll look great to a white perch.

They look legit man. Good job! They'll catch all kinds of fish for sure. Spinnerbaits are my favorite for bass.

Thank you for the compliments. I did learn something I should have known after trolling bucktails last season. The white color on the bottom represents the belly of a baitfish. The flash in the middle mimics the bloodline/spine, and the color on top represents the type of baitfish. Using red thread will give the impression of gills or an bleeding bait. It makes complete sense, I always thought it was just a random color design...duh

                  Nice Sparky,

Santa brought me some of those same crappie spinner forms from lurepartsonline. I'll be in the process of making my own as well for the first time.

                    Sparky -

Those are nice looking spinnerbaits. They certainly will catch perch and few other species as well. I admire guys who are talented enough to make attractive and functional products like those. I look forward to your reports when you start using them.

Nice job sparky. Obvious difference between yours and "the real deal" is the different shaped jig head. Other than that, yours look just as professional. I'd buy 'em.

Looks great Sparky! If anything, I think yours might catch bigger fish due to it's larger profile.
