I have been interested in trying this out. I clicked that Jeff Little video and about the 4:20 mark i think i reconsidered. Over how big of an area does the current rip like that?

Like that, maybe 20 yards, and not all the time. Depends on current, winds and discharge volume. The entire visible discharge is maybe 100 yards (im guessing based on fuzzy recollection). The rip is about 20 yards wide.

From a yak, I'll stay on the side and cast in, probably, maybe.

I'm definitely going to be fishing there sometime this winter but I think I'll wait until we have some consistent cooler weather. I had planned on launching from Flag Ponds, if you go let us know how the launch was (and the fishing lol).

Shane and I got out there, but caught no fish. No marks either. But it was fun. It's a long walk from the parking to the beach, but quite doable.

Last year I met a home owner that was nice enough to give me her husbands spare parking pass to launch at the private beach by the marina. Its expired now but i've also launched at the small marina there. There is no boat ramp but you can drop in your kayak from one of the docks. I just went in and talked to the owner and he was ok with it.

If you've never fished over in that area by kayak, make sure you have the proper cold weather gear in case you dunk.....the current gets pretty crazy over by the discharge.
