Anyone buy a yak from these guys before

Never heard of them but wouldn;t freight on a yak from Ca be a lot.

I would try Lancaster County Marine in Pa,

Also a good option closer is Appomattox River Company.

I've bought yaks fro both places and thought they did a great job.

I 2nd Lancaster county marine. Bought my hobie there. They have almost every boat in every color. Huge selection, I've never seen that many boats anywhere else. I thought they stocked close to 2000 boats. Good service as well.

Free shipping to BWI, and buying on the internet saves the sales tax. Hard to support the local shop(s) when you're talking about $120 in sales tax on a $2k Hobie.

I bought a Trident 11 angler from them via ebay, shipped free to Dulles. Was packaged perfectly, no issues whatsoever and an excellent price.

I bought a Tarpon from them this past August (to BWI) and it took 3 shipments before I was able to get one that survived the shipping process unscathed. I had to refuse 2 earlier shipments due to damage. They plaster the yaks with packaging / stickers that say no forklifts but someone uses them anyway. The first time I went to the freight depot, there was another guy picking up two Tarpons at the same time as me -- both of his were damaged (one had been gored by a forklift)

I will say that despite the sucky freight forwarder, the guy I dealt with at ASKC was extremely patient and even worked a custom deal for me. I didn't want a paddle / flush mounts. Instead, he traded me two Yak Attack Zooka tubes and a mighty mount.

I'd probably do business with them again.

i can attest to formerly working at fed ex freight.. the guys who run the fork lifts dont give 2 shits about any freight they touch

never get angry with a company for shipping damages.. all damages come from the shipping.
