  • Lynnhaven Inlet

    Gents,
Has anybody hit this area? There is plenty of talk about the area for a variety of species, but I am not sure of the accessablity for a kayak. There are couple of launch sites, but I have never done a scouting of the area. Inlets can always be a little dicey and just wanted to know how dicey this one is before I drag my butt down there. Not planning on hitting it for couple weeks, but better to plan ahead.
    Any help appreciated
    Jay

Well ....... got a friend down there ...... Bob Thomas ....... I invited him to join us on this site

Also, I've fished out of Lynnhaven from bigger boats several times ........ there is lots of boat traffic especially where the river meets the bay ........ and there is a strong current during the tide changes. I've seen a bunch of Yaks there so it is doable and popular .....

I've fished it a few times. The fishing for reds, specks, flounder, and stripers can be awesome. The current can be quick, but the farther you are from the inlet, the slower it is. I like to fish it on a falling tide because there are often predators hanging out by the mouths of all the little guts in the marshes. Gulp grubs will catch everything. There's a fair amount of info on that area tkaa.org, and Joe (Friday) on tidalfish has posted some good videos.
