Sandy Point State Park Frozen ? Probably...
I was thinking about a paddle and shoots some photos of the ice
under the Bridge et al... taking one rod with me and seeing what the
fish finder might show... I tried calling about 3:30pm and nobody answered
out at the park to tell me if there was any water access... I found some
pics on their twitter feed... I am guessing all the South River and Severn
tributaries are frozen also... oh well... I might just go any way to look around...
Maybe I can sled down the hill at Home Port into the water with the yak...

I came west across the Bay Bridge at about 2:00 pm this afternoon. Much of the water north of the bridge was ice-covered (sheets of ice floating with strands of water between them). Immediately south of the bridge there was some open water. It looked like the lagoon area near the ramps was fully iced in however. I don't know how you could get access to the open water areas.

The ramps have over 3 " of ice ....... Even the big boats aren't getting out. Might be able to surf launch if the bay is open

I would suggest no one tries outing in this stuff! If you have small sheets, you will be ok, large sheets and you could be dead! The large sheets will pin you between them and just crush your boat, or kayak. We had a guy around 2004 or something try and hunt on the Potomac with ice sheets coming loose. The sheets push them to a rock wall, they got out and it crushed his jon boat like a beer can. They did not even have time to get to their cell phone out of the boat box to call for help and had to be recused with a helicopter.

Just be careful if you head it, Them ice sheets are powerful.
