I saw some really nice looking under armour gear at dick's today, but jeeze it was pricey. At around $150 for the shirt and the pants it better be toasty! Has anyone used it while fishing? I have the older UA cold gear and it's held up for a lot of years now, but it's better when you're moving, not as good as a standstill.

Not to undermine what you bought, if you did, but I have to yet be shown how thick under armour is a better investment that the cheaper base layer. Its going to be warmer than the plain base layer, but I think it is not the best value for warmth and layering options are better. The purpose of the wicking base layer is to immediately remove water from near your skin (wicking) and create a small dry air pocket against your skin. Any water touching you makes you feel cold by providing a cooling effect. Then you add layering over it as in fleece pants on fleece lined wader pants. I just cant see how a thicker layer of the original UA pants or shirt is really that much warmer.
One year for Christmas maybe two years ago they had these out. Cabelas had their brand and I got the Medium and heavier weight tops. I figured the heavier weight would be like a layering top. It was just like UA with a little poly fuss on the inside and I mean "a little". I was disappointed with what I paid for them and how thin the "heavyweight" was and they got shipped back. IMO, as a waterfowl hunter and from what I have seen, its better to invest in the normal wicking layer and layers of fleece like Polartec or other layering clothes to cover it up. They provide the warmth and UA removes the moisture from your skin if you sweat at all."If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.

That's what this stuff seemed like...regular UA with some fleece like fuzz on the inside. It still was pretty thin. I layer up as it is but fleece starts to get a little bulky.

I have it. I dont wear it for fishing as much as I do hunting. I believe mine is called UA Metal. Its nice stuff that keeps you very warm while sitting still. However, if you work up a sweat and the fleece gets damp, it is worthless. Often times when walking to my stand Ill take everything off except the UA because I don't want this happening. I dont think it would work too well paddling because of this. The fleece just doesnt dry as well as the traditional UA fabric.___________________________

Based on what RavensDfense said, I would agree for the money, worthless. If the bottom base layer does not keep sweat off your skin, its useless in the cold.
How much more bulky can you get than having to wear a PFD? I wear UA wicking layer, shirt, fleece and shirt. I can go outside like this for limited time. Then dry top over it, then PFD and a jacket when hunting on the water. I can unzip the jacket to regulate my temp.
If I was to flip, or fall in, the jackets wet and its time to pack up and stay warm by moving with dry top and dry base layers."If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.
