  • kayak fishing getting bigger and bigger

I was watching tv this weekend. They had a red drum tourny in florida and they also held the first kayak fishing tournament through hobie. first place won a hobie pro angler. It is good to see that kaying fishing is getting some tv time.

That is part of the redfish tour. They now have a kayak division. First place is a pro angler and second place is one of the other hobie kayaks. It would be nice if there were other tours like that. Of course, that is mostly for states that manage their fisheries better than Maryland.

It was great! Spent most of it underwater. Mostly snorkeling. Shoulda done more diving but the missus doesn't scuba. Some fishing but I didn't really work very hard at it. Only went out for an hour on 2 mornings. Had some fish chasing topwater but no hookups. Did a sailing/snorkeling trip to an uninhabited island nearby. That was cool. A shipwreck and several boats washed ashore on one side of the island where the prevailing easterly winds made for a rough sea. Very fine sand on the beach on the other side. Almost like powder. Much calmer waters. Sea turtles, I spotted a tarpon while snorkeling and several fish I've never seen. Overall, very "cool". It was nice to be on a beach in February & March!
