at the beginning of the season do you have to do anything to check to see if your transponder is in tip top shape. Meaning over the winter if in storage would the goop release it . Will i have to put it in again year after year.

do you mean transducer? If so I would just make sure its still snug by tapping on it otherwise run it and if its broke then fix it.

The only thing I do is keep using it all winter long.

you should be ok if you used marine goop. the only way to tell is put it in the water and try it out.
