plugs are primarily used up north, but they do work in the bay aswell. do any of you fish them int he bay, and do you carry them in a plug bag or come up with an alternative storage?

I have a bunch of plugs and good number of bags. Not really sure if I would be bringing any of the bags with me when I am kayaking. They are great when on a rock casting away, but I don't think I would be too comfortable with anything that big slinging around my neck as I am paddling. Truthfully, although they an organized way to carry stuff when lugging around in the surf hoping rock to rock, if I was stationary a plano is much more organized and convienent. Plug bags can also be a tangled mess in the surf, but nobody has figured out a way sling a convient way to sling 3 3700.Also, only the bigger two rows don't teeter and fall over.
Also plug bags run deep. Bombers, red gills and anything smaller would be lost in the depths. They are great for needles and big pencils, but I can't see using them in the bay, but then again, I have the least experience on this board for bay fishing. A aquaskins small (not tall) might be a nice compact bag that may work, but then again I most likely will be opting for a plano.
But interested in other ways people carry their plugs.Jay

John got me hooked on plugs this fall and I plan on trying them more often from my kayak, especially on the flats. I carried them in Plano's last year and it wasn't that bad but they tangle up. I picked up a plug couple of plug bags for wading at night and things still get tangled up, but it's nice to not have to wade out to change lures.
As I said on the other site, I think I'm going to put an Aquaskinz small bag on the outside of my crate this year. I think it'd be a pretty easily accessible area to grab a bomber or crystal minnow. As for the big wood, I may put them in a bigger bag in the crate or add some pvc tubes to the crate. I'd be worried about all the salt on them though, I guess that's just one more thing to rinse.Used to fish more.

Depending on the size of the plugs, or in my case crankbaits, BPS or Falcon make boxes designed for crankbaits that also work for plugs. I only have a few plugs, but a lot of crankbaits. The crankbait boxes keep the baits untangled. I keep a bag with those boxes in that on the bow of the kayak. I keep the larger saltwater cranks in plano boxes. They really don't get tangled either, as only one or two will fit in a section. So, even when they do get some what hooked together, its not that bad. The BPS and Falcon boxes are great.
I have not used plugs that much, mostly on breaking fish. However, on breaking fish, I don't like trying to keep the plug awary from the birds. I usually use subsurface lures, even on breaking fish.

Picked up one of these last fall:
http://www.precision-pak.com/fishing...I%20Surf%20Bag
Only used it a few times and thought it was great for the price paid. However, Redfish got one and said it came apart. PrecisionPak replaced it no questions asked so that was good.
One adjustment I made... it comes with 2 Plano-like boxes that I found a pain when wade fishing because you need 2 hands to operate. Better to replace them with another set of smaller tubes. Overall, a nice plug bag...
