I had a simular thing happen to me last year with my work truck. Had an extra set of keys hidden in it that I had forgotten about, they had been there for more than 10 years. One morning around 3am I showed up for work and my truck was not there...I was sick to my stomach. I drove through a small neighborhood and the Walmart near my warehouse to see if maybe a local homeless person or punk might have taken it for a ride. I could not believe it when I saw it parked right in the parking lot at the Walmart. I called the guy that was meeting me at the warehouse to let him know what was going on and got him to meet me at the truck. IT WAS LOCKED! They had left a couple of jackets, back packs and duffle bags full of stuff in the front of the truck! Nobody showed up while we where putting the stuff in the back of the truck, so I used the keys in my pocket to take it back so I could finish working that morning.

Someone that overheard those brats joking about it and where it was ........ Then saw it and told the police ....... Can also point out the jerks ......... So hopefully their lives will be less fun in the near future

So, something that I want you to think about. Did you incurr any expenses trying to find your truck, or expenses caused by the theft of your vehicle. Like a car rental for instance.

Could be a criminal case brought against the thieves but rather that goes forward or not is in the hands of the police and the State's Attorney. However , you could sue civilly, if you could show damages (expenses) and that would not be regulated by an intermediary party. Sometimes a civil suit is far more effective in sending a message to the preps and their parents/guardians.
