Hey Guys and Gals. Just ran across this and wanted to know if this would be practical or not? Your thoughts.

I think they cost more than my starter yak, so definitely not practical for my budget. If money were not a factor, I might consider getting one. Although with their mounting requirement you wont be able to control directional positioning like you could with a stake out pole and trolley.

Depends on the type of fishing you do. You need to determine that on your own!

From what I have seen of them, they dont do anything that a stakeout pole doesnt and, as was mentioned earlier, they dont have the versatility that a stakeout pole and trolley do.

If you're fishing where its open like on lakes and flats, and can afford it- go for it. I've had problems with just my fishing poles getting tangled in trees and stuff when i'm fishing around cover so I would worry about getting the pole hung on stuff when its in the vertical position.

I guess I don't get it ...... This mini anchor takes space and power and can only anchor in less than 8.5 ft from 1 place ...... And costing 600 ........ I've got a 12 ft nesting to 6 ft pole that takes up less space and serves as a poling pole and a stake out pole and can anchor thru the scupper or any point along the yak or several feet from it for less than $80

I have a 12' poling/stake out pole. Its a luxury to silently drift to a spot and simply push a button to drop the pole. Alot easyier than pushing a pole into the mud, then with the wind drift and waves to knock your pole loose and you have to scramble to push it back into the ground while you were trying to fish. And in rock good luck. The power pole holds to the ground solid and can accomodate light waves/wake and locks it down into place so if anything you would drag along the bottom. It would be perfect to stop silently 10-12' before a patch of lillies/spatter dock, rip rap, wood and make your few pitches and drag a nice pig out from the crap without dragging yourself into it. Alot of guys saltwater fish on here so they probably dont see a need for it. Unless there in the shallows for reds. And if anyone has rver pushed a pole into the ground you make alot of wake/ commotion struggling to push something in the structure down below without shifting your center pf gravity. I bass fish so i would love to have that thing. And i have a pro angler so an extra lithium battery aint shit.

Flexibility is important to me. For me, it will be much more of a hassle having that thing around. I would try to keep it simple. What if there is a failure and you cannot raise the pole?

The unit is $600, I looked last time at BPS but that does NOT include the pole. The pole is optional (size selection) so add another $80. Stake out pole is less than that, easier, no battery required or to die while on water. I guess for the guy that has everything it's something else to trick out their ride, but I think the thing is more geared to alum boats rather than a canoe or kayak.

They have a release incase it gets stuck down. The unit takes a standard 3/4 stake put pole so if you already have a pole no need to buy theirs.
