Just curious about the WD-40. Does it make your tackle box greasy and nasty?

I spray the lure holding it and then wipe it down with a paper towel before putting it in the tackle boxes- and I carry a small can of WD-40 in my milk crate

I've even herd of guys keeping the "juice" from gulp alive. Has anyone soaked other soft plastics in it and noticed any benefits? I have a few tubs of gulp and have been wondering if soaking some zoom worms in it may give them an edge.

Hey Fishingfool..... DNR just changed the rule last week so you are ok using more than 3 rods in tidal waters again. Good thread.

                Ron,

While I'm not arguing whether or not WD-40 attracts fish (I have zero experiance) and it very well may, this snippet comes directly from WD-40's website...http://wd40.com/about-us/myths-legends-fun-facts/

                Myth: WD-40 contains fish oil.
                Fact:
Consumers have told us over the years that they have caught some of the biggest fish ever after protecting their fish hooks and lures with WD-40. We believe this legend came from folks assuming that the product must contain fish oil since it appears to attract fish. Sorry CharlieĀ®, it just ain’t so.

WD-40 Company has taken steps to respect and conserve the environment, and encourages its users to do the same. While WD-40 can be used to help protect fishing equipment from rust and corrosion, WD-40 Company does not recommend using WD-40 to attract fish.

Gulp juice works on other lures. However, due to actual gulp lures being very porous it is more effective on actual Gulp lures.

Just curious, is the fish oil base of WD-40 from bunker, menhaden. Could we be shooting ourselves in the foot at the same time we are putting scent on our lures. Although, probably no worse than Gulp or others menhaden lure scent. But for the previous post, we may have all been fooled. I know WD-40 has always smelled worse than sun screen to me.

Is there a problem with bunker / menhaden scent?

If so, what scent should we be using (if any)?

They use WD-40 on the Columbia River as an attractant on Quick Fish flatfish...salmon fishing...so what it smells like to a fish...dunno but needless to say it works
