Went to Backyard Boats in Annapolis today and put a down payment on the 2014 Ivory Dune Outback that just showed up to the store yesterday afternoon.

Will go pick it up next Saturday, along with a heavy duty cart and Humminbird transducer adapter.

Pictures will have to wait, they had it sitting on a cart...not the most photogenic landscape . Dennis walked me through all the controls, storage compartments and widgets. Look forward to getting it out on the water.

Just git mine from Dennis a few weeks ago, great place to do business with. He threw in the heavy duty cart for free which was nice because you definitely need it to move it around by yourself. I know you are as excited as I am to put the fishing machine to use!.....Congrats

Picked up my new boat today from Backyard Boats in Naptown. Got a fishing license (tidal, fresh, trout and crab stamps), along with a Lowrance Elite-4 HDI fish finder, GPS combo. Should be done spending money for a bit.

I guess I'll have to spend a little more money. The FF/GPS mount that comes in the box isn't going to fit anywhere I want to mount it. I want the top of the hull to stay flush so I can haul the kayak upside down on my Jeep. Wife's Jeep was the chariot to get it home, but I won't be using that Jeep anymore when mine ('05 Rubicon) gets back from Korea...hopefully soon.

I'm going to get a Ram mount, and plan on putting the base/ball in the cup holder on the port (left) side. Anyone have a better suggestion?

I think I would want another strap across the front of the hull. You're putting a lot of faith in the two screws securing the front drag handle and that thin cord. Upside down you will get a lot of air, and therefore lift, under it at highway speed. Those screws let loose and your day is ruined, not to mention anyone behind you.

It wasn't the ideal way to tie it down. Rigging improvements will be made for sure. The cord used also went through the metal loop on each end, the carry handles/cord were only used to line it up for the tie down strategy.

I have an idea already. Use some webbing (same as the red around the bumper), to make a connected loop around each end. That webbing is over 4,000lbs in strength. I'll post up some pictures of what I come up with, it will be simplistic but also crazy strong at the same time.
