  • cold water warm weather

So what does everyone wear now that the air is warm and the water still cold? I've been using a combination of a farmer john under a semi dry top and bottoms with fleece if needed throughout the winter, but now what?

I went out today in a full drysuit, thought I'd be an overheated mess but it ended up being pretty comfortable all day. It was one of these and the lighter weight gore-tex probably made the difference.

I was out in yesterday’s beautiful weather with Kotatat pants, nylon jogging pants underneath, NRS booties, a long-sleeved shirt, a sun hat and a PFD of course.

      I was very comfortable.

But I had no allusion of safety in my clothing.

I wouldn’t want to be bobbing in that 50 degree water.

Staying within your paddling or pedaling limits, remaining close to a buddy and being constantly aware of your surroundings are very good ideas all the time but especially when the water is cold.

I was out in nrs semi dry pants and top with light weight clothes underneath. I was good until I over-exerted on the way home (20 minutes with an avg of 4.5 mpg SOG against the current). It was my first real trip in the PA and I wasn't watching the time. I was soaked by the time I got home.

Side note - I feel like I could peddle for hours at 2-3 mph, but all-out will suck the life out of you fast!
