I have an Ocean Kayak Big Game with a 55lb thrust BassYak motor. With two batteries, I can troll all day. This is much more than I can take sitting in a kayak.

I have been looking at a Hobie ProAngler. Maybe some time this year, no rush. I have been looking at the Island Hopper motor that they make for Hobies. However, I would like one in a 55lb thrust. The Evolution/Torqueedo motor is very proprietary. I think the use of regular batteries and a trolling motor is more flexible. It fits right in the peddle well, just like the Torqueedo. An extra battery for the Torqueedo is like $500-600.

Overall, I like the electric motor on the kayak. It is excellent for trolling. It move along so quiet. You can troll in shallow water without spooking the fish. Kayak trolling is very effective. This year I am going to do more trolling during trophy rockfish season. I am going to paddle out to Thomas Point Light and then start trolling with the electric. I figure, if I leave super early in the morning, I can be out at the lighthouse just at dawn. With two batteries, that will give me 8 + hours of trolling. I should have a good shot at a trophy fish this year.

I have a Tarpon T120 Angler and I am the new owner of the 2011 Hobie Revo. It has yet to see any action since I am getting it outfitted first with rod holders and a new fishfinder.
