If you are in to these types of adventures, I recommend reading "Paddle to the Amazon". The author and son(s) traveled 12000 miles by canoe from Winipeg Canada to Brazil. Escapades galore, including dealing with pirates. Great read for a snowy winter day, like yesterday.
