How hard is it to troll with a paddle yak.im guessing it shoukdnt be hard but i have no idea since i have never done it

It is certainly practical. And like most things, your ability to do it well and easily improve with practice. The challenges come in:

    - choosing appropriate rods and lures for the conditions and water depths
    - having rod holders in places on your kayak that do not interfere with your paddling stroke
    - figuring out where to troll and how fast to go
    - managing your kayak and other lines when you snag bottom or hook a fish

Last season was my first time trolling from a paddle kayak. John made some good points about rod placement interfering with paddling. For me it was trial and error. I basically would cast lures out both sides and start paddling, if I was hitting bottom I would reel some line up. It all takes time but I caught on quick. This year I purchased a Hobie Pro Angler and for trolling it makes a world of difference being hands free. I bought levelwind baitcasting reels as well this year and it has been much easier because I count how many times the levelwind goes from side to side and use that as my guide for running lures at different water depths.
