I had a bridge caster yell at me for coming too close to "his fishing area". I apologized very nicely and said that I honestly didn't realize that they casted so far out and would immediately put some more distance between us. He did not believe me, nor did he accept my apology and continued to yell at me. Next he demonstrated just how far he could cast and landed his rather large sinker about five feet from me. At that time I informed him that if I got a hold of his line I would paddle as hard as I could in the opposite direction so he had better "hold on to his pole", cause he would be fighting a 250 pounder with a full head of steam. I guess he figured he wouldn't win that battle and that was pretty the end of his little tirade. Now I make sure I'm way out in the river before I turn.

        Raptor likes a good fight.

He fought a cow nose ray for over an hour last year. It dragged him from Goodhands Creek all the way to Kent Narrows.

My guess is the bridge caster would have been no match for him after that.

At the Jamboree I got spooled by a Bass boat that ran just behind my yak. I may have had 100' of line out trolling. It spooled me so fast I barely got the rod out of the holder before POP there went 200 yards of braid. I can only hope my 20 pound braid found it's way to the bearings of his prop.

At least I got another new nick name out of it, "Bass Boat Jim" and a new roll of braid from Bob Miller. I wish I had a Beetle Spin out, could have added that to things caught on a Beetle Spin.

We had a new experience at mariner point 2 weeks ago.
We went down the canal heading towards the quarry but decided to head left before the quarry to check out that side and head down to days cove quarry.
we were fishing that shallow area between the 2 canals and heard this roaring noise. Sounded like a cigarette racing boat at full throttle and i'm trying to figure from the noise where he was. It just kept getting louder and louder and getting closer and closer. then i realised what ever this was was roaring up the canal and headed back into the main quarry then started heading back. We were around the corner on the side that heads up to route 40. Extremely loud now and obviously heading our way I told my GF to get over by me along the bank when this big ole Air Boat comes flying around the corner and headed up towards route 40. Dang that thing was loud!!

I was shocked to see that thing up in there and to their credit they did slow it down when they got near us and stayed on the far side away from us. One guy on board even took some pics of us as they went by. Wish I would have got some pics of that thing. First time I ever saw one other than on tv.

On 2 occasions this year I saw peanut brains hauling
butt in the water then I heard a loud bang like they hit a
Submerged rock or chunk of wood. Both suddenly weren't
Moving that fast now. Fortunately, I wasnt in my yak but was
Fishing from shore at the time.

CAGE RATTLER - I've seen those air-boats up close in Maine. These are the same type of air-boat used to skim thru the Everglades. Clammers in Maine use them to skim over exposed mud flats at low tide to get to the good clamming sites that regular clamming boats can't get to. And you are right about their noise. Air-boats are at least 5X, maybe 10X, louder than regular 2-cycle outboard boats. There are attempts to regulate them in Maine because of their excessive noise. Just imagine these air-boats hauling butt at sun-up down the side creeks on the Magothy or Severn or any of the other heavily populated shorelines of any creek on the Bay. I think most of the noise comes from the airplane-grade prop.
