  • Sewage spill

Just found out Dividing and Mill Creeks off the Magothy are closed due to a sewage spill last night. Seems like this happens every year.

I HAVE TO AGREE it does ""seem"" to happen every year, to tune of 100's of thousands of gallons... that we are aware of. So Sad...!! i just wish the controlling interest would take a stand and stop it from happening. the progress of improvement lags behind our ""investment" flush tax, rain tax, licence fees, ramp fees, bay tags fees, private foundations participation, ect. i'm not sure if this is correct but the State will fund a sports complex with 100's of millions of dollars of our money that is used @ 18 days a year.,, but imho does not prioritize the value of the strongest resource equally... i think the Chesapeak deserves better than she gets. i'm ranting a bit i'm stopping now!!!

I have a home in Arnold across the street from Mill Creek near Ferry Point Marina. This happens several times a year with a major spill about 8 years ago at Christmas. The problem is the bone head decision to place sewage pumping stations ON THE CREEKS AND RIVERS. I suppose the thinking of the time was that if the stations would fail the waste would be harmlessly flushed out and dispersed into larger waters. Anne Arundel county is currently rebuilding the pumping station at the headwaters of Mill Creek. I hope they get it right. Had I known about this reoccurring problem I never would have bought a home here.
