For quite a while, I've been toying with the notion of buying a second kayak. I have my Torque, and it continues to meet my needs. But something new is always fun, right? For a while, I've been interested in New Zealand-based Viking Kayaks. Upon learning of them being imported to the United States in May, I began giving this more solid thought. Reading countless reviews and watching various videos made me fall fond of this yak. With my daughter growing more and more aware of "daddy gone fishing on his kayak", I made my decision on the Viking Profish Reload. With an available modular kid seat, it was an easy sell. For a month or two I had an online shopping cart full at Austin Kayak. I pulled the trigger.
The yak was due to arrive via freight on Wednesday. Lo and behold, it arrived today.

Totally unexpected surprise! This is my third kayak I've purchased...first one brand new.

Since I will have to spend more time paddling, I went ahead and purchased and upgraded paddle...much lighter than my metal paddle I use for my Torque. I also purchased a bunch of other rigging accessories that will be added in the near future (automatic 15% off of accessories with the purchase of a kayak from ACK). I've been "blueprinting" my rigging plan for so long that I've pretty much already know how I want things configured. But I will still put it on the water before I drill any holes.

There are still a few things that I need to get, such as a new seat, a second transducer for my fish finder, and a few other accessories. I hope to have rigging pics and hopefully fishing reports from the Viking sometime soon.
