Shimano Trevala S Rods are sweet. I know it is over your price range but goes well with the AVET reel you mentioned. At BPS

I have an MXJ5.8 AVET on one. The Uglystick Tiger Rod is a decent alternative at less cost that you may want to consider and is under $100 at BPS.
Good luck.Deadwood (Dave)

If you dont go, you wont know, and you got to have bait in the water.

What kind of jigging are you looking to do? If you are talking about stingsilvers and vert jigging metals the the moderate action of the trevala S would be fine. If you want to cast and work bkds style baits via snap jigging then you need a 6'6''-7'6'' MH fast action rod. I dont know if the Avet will do well for casting all day, IMHO. If you are looking to cast BKD on lead upto 1.5oz which is pretty much the most we jig around mid bay then a good option for you might be a Berkley lightning (+/- $40) Also look into the BPS carbonlite, and Shimano Compre these 3 are good starting rods in your price range.Interstate Kayak Fishing
