Thinking about the Hobie ProAngler - Again

Greetings, Gang:

Almost ready to pull the trigger on a ProAnger.Price makes me grit my teeth. Haven't yet peddled one and maybe can't until May. Demo dock in Annapolis doesn't opent until then.

Anyone fishing with one of these beasts? Anyone want to talk me out it?

Right now I'd LOVE to talk you out of 1 cause I'm now real happy w/Hobie right now.

Several of us have the PA's and like em ......... however, you better have a way to transport it because it is a bear to load ........ 140 lbs and bulky ....... a real b to get on and off of a roof ......... I gave up and bought a PU truck after loading it 1 time ........

While it's not that slow, it is slower than the other yaks so if you have to race others to a spot, you will probably lose ...........

Haven't had it in rough water but I hear that it does not cut through the waves like the Revo's and Outbacks ..........

Search the net for deals ......... they come up time to time .......... I got a 2009 demonstrator w/a new warranty for $1700 + 200 shipping last July. Deals are usually at the end of the season though .........

I suggest you meet up with some of us when we go fishing and test one to see how you like it .........

BadAssBass: Besides peddling, I better test car topping. Got a sedan. Saw some videos showing a couple of techniques.

I'm not sure how much salt water fishing I would be doing. I envsion using the ProAngler for bass fishing on lakes, reservoirs, slow moving rivers. Although I went out with CeeTee and Surf Dog and had a blast.

Not gonna post the Hobie miff ......I think it will work out ..... they have a good rep ..

Redfish 12 can paddle faster than the PA I think but 4-5 mph is what I can sustain if I want

Haven't tried the swells ...... only used it a couple of times but I like it ....... use for lakes, rivers, ponds is ideal ......

Most of us transport w/pu trucks or trailers so you may want to test loading it on the roof ........

Will let you know when I go again ....... possibly Sunday ..... place not selected yet ........

Self rescue practice sounds like a good idea. I made my dad and gf practice last summer hard before I would take them out. They hated me for it but they felt a lot more comfortable paddling after that. Even got my dad out at the bay bridge last fall in some less than stellar conditions, he loved it! Granted that was in a ride 135 which is stable, but not like the PA.

I was telling someone the other day that I was surprised how fast the pro angler was from that time we went out. It's just too big for me to consider... I am however thinking more and more about a Revo...

take a ride to backyard boats in eastport and ask them to let you try loading it on to your car, you shouldnt have a problem getting the front on to the trunk after that it should slid right up. hernias and nito not included but might be an unwelcome accessories with the pro angler

Definitely "try before you buy". Good counsel from one of our sages right there!

If you get "one of those beasts" you'll be chiming in on the electric motors threads soon! Well, so will I but I'm holding out!
