That is what I was thinking. I was going to fish Back River from Wallaces or Messick this weekend anyway.

I think Cobia stay in open water though. I want a chance to catch cobia if I'm going to Buckroe

You can lauch in back river and paddle to open water and be just a few miles north of Buckroe. I was also planning to fish for reds inside of back river on the same day. It is an easier lauch but longer paddle.

Actually I just found a public launch neat the mouth of the inlet. I'm still interested in your report though.

I will let you know how I do. You can launch next to Wallace's Bait & Tackle or on the other side at Messick's. I think Messick side might be a little shorter paddle out to mouth.

When are you planning on going? I'm thinking about taking a day off from work to go hit that area next week. Let me know

I was thinking of going on Monday but the wind doesn't look good right now.

I'm going for SH today, maybe launchbaround 5pm and catch the evening bite. I'm thinking Pohick bay right now

I fished for cobia outside Back River yesterday. Launched at dandy point ramp next to wallace's tackle shop. It was a very long paddle to get close to 12-15 fow, even at high tide. Seemed even longer because I was fighting outgoing tide on way back in. I soaked live eels in a chum slick. Most of the eels got bit in half by something and even saw croaker harassing them as I was reeling in. No cobia, but it was a really nice day to be out there. Saw giant sea turtles, dolphins, stingrays, a shark, and a huge otter (it didn't really look like one, but I don't know what else it could have been).

They sell chum, live eels, and live crabs right there at Wallace's. I also fished inside back river for a few hours but only caught dink flounder.

Thanks for the report John. I'm looking forward to explore the area in the near future.

Thanks for the report John. I ended up decide not to go, but that look like a good place to target Cobia. I will try in the future when I have a chance.
