Recommended Fishfinder/GPS - Maybe ChartPlotter

I've decided to get my dream rig, probably the ProAngler, maybe a Revo. Haven't speced the electronics just yet.

Tentatively, settled on a Lowrance Elite Five/ChartPlotter tempted to look at the DI series. However, could get lower end and reserve in case I need a trailer - could pay about half of it.

Do any of you use a FishFinder with chartplotter? Is that overkill for a yak? What do you like?

Thanks for all the feedback. This is a major purchase for me and my wife isn't likely to be forgiving if I don't get it right the first time.

If going for a dream rig get a dream FF. I went for a Humminbird 798ci SI w/ sidescanning & GPS. Santa (the missus) brought it for Christmas. Hopefully will be trying it out for the first time on Saturday!

Sideboards on the PA make it very easy to install the DF and rod holders w/o drilling into the Yak .......... Go for the PA !!!!!

Yep ........ need a few more Aircraft Carriers (PA's) ........ got enough destroyers .......... besides .......... I can pay for the PA by selling you guys in the REVO's the beer you don't have room to carry .........

Caught a nice 2010 year end sale. I think they changed some of the technology for the 2011 model year and were dumping the previous model. They are certainly more expensive this year. I've been a slacker getting it set up but will definitely post results.
