    Back in KY, I've had snakes try to climb in the yak before. I just don't move anything except the paddle and gently push them away. A cotton mouth has bit at my paddle on more than one occasion. Seen lots of angry beavers, but none that attack me when I'm in the yak. Most are just yelling from the kitchen!

      This is my understanding as well. In fact, I've set my foot down about a foot from a coiled copperhead on a trail and had no idea until someone pointed him out. I've heard most bites are caused by stepping on or handling them.
