3 day fishing trip

My son and I will do a 3 day kayak fishing trip from Brunswick to Swains Lock on the last weekend of this month. We have done a couple of 2 day trips on a canoe (Brunswick to White Ferry) but this will be our first on kayaks. We have had caught a few bass and pan fish. However we both really want to catch a lot more. I hope you guys will chime in with your favorite lures.

We are counting the days!!!

Watch out for the WSSC dam above Swains.

Based on google earth, it's really hard to tell if the dam is submersed or passable.... Is there a drop off? I can always go down on the left side of the island just to be safe.

If the water is high enough you can ride over it. If its low, you'll have to get out and pull.

FYI.
You can go around it by staying on the VA side, but you will end up over 300 yards downstream from Swains and you will have to paddle back up to get out. If that happens, make a beeline to the MD side. Once there either stick to the shore and paddle back up to Swains or portage 20 yards over to the C&O Canal.
