Kayaker drowned on Severn today

Hopefully this wasn't anyone from the site. But I'm reading on Anne arundle county breaking news there was an open water drowning on the Severn not long ago.. did not have a pfd on.

Has this story been confirmed?

I've searched on-line and I cannot find mention of a kayaker drowning recently in the Severn.

The pleas to wear PFDs are good, however, because there are old reports from news outlets of many drownings locally.

But I haven't seen any reports of a recent incident in the Severn involving a kayaker.

If someone has the details please direct us to them.

They have no found the person. It was on Anne arundle county breaking news and reports on facebook.

So it's not made up. They may have found the person since late last night n switched it from a drowning I haven't checked. But they had Dnr. Fire. Police searching with boats n heli as of 4 pm last night

Being retired from AACOFD after 32 years you would be surprised how many calls we get that turn out to be nothing. That is not to say they were not legitimate calls but to say the person may have self rescued, swam to shore, or someone found a floating kayak. Mark, kinda like when I found the floating small craft in the Severn the other day and I just called DNR PD on phone for them to take care of the vessel.

At least I hope that is all it was. But a kayaker was rescued from Potomac, maybe yesterday, by Montgomery County with head injury.

some one gave me a sticker last year at sandy point to put on my kayak with contact info. come to think of it better update the info I moved since then
