Has anyone ever launched out of Fort Howard? I'd like to try fishing the Knolls at the mouth of the Patapsco. It looks like the closest place. I've been meaning to get out there at some point but never pulled the trigger. I'm a little concerned because it looks like big open water and I think the conditions would have to be right to give it a try.

If your considering fishing 7 ft knoll from a kayak don't even think about it without a mother ship.
I know it says there's a kayak launch at ft Howard but I've never seen it.

I agree the conditions would have to be almost perfect... Would not want to be out in that area with 2 to 3 ft rollers....by chance do you know how far the distance out is. Paddle kayak owner here. I've been thinking about fishing the Miller's Island area...just have not heard a lot of good reports in the upper bay as of yet...hope it turns soon. Would like to get lucky and stick a few keepers... The knolls you would hope to have a few days of mild to no wind... As a pattern just to be sure. I know you fish the Key Bridge wonder what type of wake those container ships throw when they get under power. May be an interesting challenge...

I haven't had too many issues with wakes near the key bridge, but out near Hart Miller a big boat did send a nice wake my way when I was in a small boat. It seemed like that wake really built up by the time it got to me. After that we thought it'd be best to leave.
