Anyone use leeches?

I am from the Midwest and leeches are the go to bait for everything especially walleye. I have caught thousands upon thousands of walleye on simple lindy rigs/bottom bouncers and a jig tipped with a leech. They are also amazing for smallmouth and panfish. The two best things about them are that they are very durable on a hook and keep very well at home (just keep them in cold water , feeding not nesscary and they will last for a year). My question is, has anyone used them on the upper Potomac or anywhere else with any success?

I haven't seen any here. I also haven't found a traditional bait shop. We caught a lot of walleye using leaches back home.
