  • fishing from the bank for shad

Did some fishing tues morning along the susky and deer creek on the point. I caught 32 shad in about 2.5 hours prior to the rain coming down in buckets. There was an old man there and every 3-4th cast......." OOOOOhhhhh theres another one, cmon here susy let me take off your jewelry........I have been fishing this point for 52 years". He was a good fisherman, but his lips would not stop moving from the time i got there till i left. we had fun and everyone was very friendly.................THE SHAD ARE RUNNING GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN. ........you are right, it was tuesday. the mind goes when you cronologically challenged.

Hit the shad on Sunday, also did pretty good. Hit them yesterday morning not so hot, only one. The river is getting pretty high. Went out today but it is a shake. Saturday morn might be doable.

Hmmmm... are you sure there really was an old man fishing there, or were you just talking to yourself? I wouldn't mind being the old guy who has fish the same point for 52 years. That's further proof that time spent fishing isn't deducted from your overall life span.

Just going off google maps, are you fishing there near the state park along the Susquehanna? Not trying to steal your spot just learning new areas. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, I am about an hour from there so I may have to make the trip up. I have yet to try this shad fishing I have been reading so much about, it sounds like it can be fun. I used to live in FL and we would hit the Speck runs down there and it was a blast.

if you want to meet up on sunday we can stop and get something to eat at the waffle house off of 543 and route 1 bypass. send me a pm, when i was there on tuesday, they were hitting on gold spoons vs. the silver or shad darts.

I fished where deer creek meets the susquehanna under the bridge walk way on Thursday after a charter trip for stripers. The water was so high the path was flooded. I thought there was no chance of catching anything in the muddy and high water but three of us caought maybe 20 fish in an hour. They hit everything from shad darts to little spoons to small tubes. It was one of my best days fishing ever! Thanks to Yak fish for showing me the spot.

It was a hell of a good day fishing! I had a great time with you guys.
I actually went back the next day for stripers but the wind and current started to get too much and I decided it may be a little too dangerous. After a catfish, I decided to pack it in and go for some shad. It was almost mid day by that point and the shad were not biting. I worked hard for just one. I believe it is true that just before dark it really heats up because we really caught some nice ones as the sun was setting.
