Hey guys, sorry I had to be a last minute no show at Lowes wharf, but I am looking forward to seeing you all at the St. Mary's river at Dennis Point marina.
Lately things have been picking up. Buddies of mine have been catching some rockfish, croaker and good perch and the Rays that were there earlier this summer have thinned out. Yesterday when I was paddling with a friend of mine from Canada (my unexpected company that resulted in my missing the M&G) we witnessed
breakers in the main channel of the river...so things are picking up. I hope that the puppy drum and trout will show up in time for us to catch one or two.
I caught this nice rockfish memorial day weekend...24"
I'll be posting a map of the area with some suggested areas to hit. One interesting feature is a huge grass bed that has traditionally held some monster perch. Supposedly this is one of the largest grass fields in So. Md/Lower Potomac area. Sadly it is adjacent to Webster field so we can only fish the outside edge. The Navy limits how close you are permitted to get to the shore in that area.
