  • Bullneck Creek and/or Lynch Cove

On Friday, my family and I went on a charter fishing trip that launched out of the anchor bay east marina in Dundalk.

While heading out, we went under a railroad swing bridge and then up the mouth of the Patapsco under the key bridge, etc.

Up by the port of Bmore, we did pretty well for perch and schoolie stripers just doing some bottom jigging.

Looking at the map, I realized that there are places where one can launch a kayak both north and south of there. I was wondering if anyone had done that and tried fishing the surrounding waters.

So...has anyone on here ever launched from Merritt Point Park and fished Bullneck Creek?
Anyone ever launched from Inverness Park and fished Lynch Cove or areas south?

Are both of these safe places to leave a car/truck?

These are a relatively short drive from my house and I'm wondering if anyone can share some experience.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I was thinking the same thing. I grew up in Dundalk and fished Bullneck Creek as a child. My Aunt and Uncle own the house across from Chesterwood Park (the one with the huge wooded lot and pool on googlemaps). I would fish off their Bulkhead everyday for hours as a child catching white perch with grass shrimp. Always wanted to launch out of Merrit Point Park for the fond memories...and the perch!

There are quite a few launch possibilities in the area after studying satellite mapping. I am guessing the water in the area is shallow until you get near the 695 bridge and stripers might be a struggle, but all the bridges look "fishy". Let me know if you ever decide to explore the area on the kayak.

I got some good feedback on another forum regarding that area in general and the person also suggested that Turners Station has better launch facilities (for boats) Next time I get an opening in my schedule, I'm going to head down there and give it a shot. Looking a the map, I'll either launch from Inverness or Turners. Merritt Point is further up the creek and I figured I'd bang some perch around the piers/swing bridge, etc.

I've yet to get my kayak out for even a single outing this year.

My calendar has been crazy busy with family commitments but would you like to keep in touch and I can reach out to you when I'm going? Since I'm still a "paddler", I'm not sure how well I'll be able to keep up w/ pedal power.

I read that on TidalFish, not a member just a troller. This is the only forum I joined...Not many fishing forums have the same camaraderie as they do here. No worries about the pedal/paddle thing...I don't exceed 2.5mph unless I see bikinis in the distance!

I am the same way with the family schedule...please keep in touch if you see something opening up. Looks like wind will never be a problem since the area seems well protected. Actually, this Friday might open up for me if nothing catastrophic happens during the work week. Dundalk has been on my list for some time, but the elusive striper usually persuades me otherwise.
